KATHMANDU: Glitz, shimmer, glitter and a rainbow of colours — the last day of The Himalayan Times TGIF Nepal Fashion Week '09 started on a bright, shiny note. The evening of September 11, which concluded the five-day fashion extravaganza, presented more of ethnic and traditional collections from various boutiques. Saris came in a variety of avatars on this day: intricate embroidery and eye-catching cut work, the saris on the ramp had different dimensions with oval pallu and quilts at the end. Designers also flaunted readymade saris with heavy embroideries emphasising on the svelte curves of a woman's body. TGIF Nepal Fashion Week 2009 was awash with glitz and glitter as the five day fashion extravaganza came to a grand finale on Friday evening at the Yak & Yeti Hotel in Kathmandu. With a riot of sparkling colours and dazzling embellishments, the concluding day pulled out all the stops in whipping up a frenzy with the sub-continent’s ethnic exuberance.  It was Incredible India on the catwalk, like Nepal had perhaps never witnessed before, as the ramp queens pirouetted in spectacular sarees, salwars and lehenga cholis to vitually knock the audience dead. close  or Esc Key I sacrificed Mumbai for Nepal I was originally supposed to do a show in Mumbai when I got the offer to come here. I had no idea about Nepal and didn’t know what to expect. Nevertheless I took a chance by sacrificing the Mumbai show in favour of this one. I’m glad I did and have no regrets as I’m amazed at how great the Nepal experience has turned out for me. For one thing a lengthy runway is a dream for a model and that’s what they have here. Nepal is like a home away from home.
